Schedule:

* 11-11:50 – Herbs for Sleep with Anne Anderson!

Learn about a few common herbs to help you fall asleep, stay asleep, and improve sleep quality.  We will discuss preparation techniques including infusion and tincture, and any possible contra-indications or drug interactions.  Time permitting, the class will end with a 10 minute guided relaxation as an adjunctive tool participants may practice before bedtime.

*12-12:50 – Sleep Like You Mean It with Cathy Cooke!

In our modern world, we have more obstacles to good quality sleep than ever before.  50-70 million Americans have sleep disorders.  The conventional advice is no longer working, and pharmaceuticals do not solve the problem. This class discusses the underlying reasons WHY you may have sleep issues, and gives you actionable steps you take immediately to get a better night’s sleep tonight!

*1-2 – Gentle Movement for Better Sleep with Elissa Maguire!

Our modern lives are busy and stressful, while being more sedentary. It is especially true during the colder months. This has a profound effect on undisturbed sleep. Physical exercise has been proven beneficial in encouraging natural and peaceful sleep. Gentle exercises and mindful movement like Yoga and Qi Gong will be shared, assisting the body and mind to balance and normalize. These eastern traditions separately or combined allow the intrinsic energies of the body to function efficiently, encouraging restful sleep. Join Elissa Maguire as she takes us through easy movements that erase stress, increase circulation, encourage relaxation, and improve physical comfort and mobility.

Bios

Anne Anderson is a community herbalist who loves teaching others about our friends in the plant kingdom.  She has been studying at the feet of leading herbalists since 2008 and opened a herb shop of her own in 2013.  Anne has been teaching and leading workshops since.  She is currently studying with David Winston, RH, AHG, to pursue her dream of becoming a Registered Herbalist with the American Herbalist Guild in 2021.  Her office is in the New Moon Healing Center at 1617 W. Jefferson St., Boise 83702. Anne holds a Masters in Applied Healing Arts from Maryland University of Integrative Health.  This degree is based on Chinese Five Phase Theory and other wisdom modalities to help us all live with more ease and less suffering. She also is a registered yoga instructor with over 500 training hours in adaptive yoga specializing in Trauma & PTSD, Elder, Pre & Postnatal, Children, Restorative, Meditation, Yin, and more.  Anne has taught yoga at a behavioral hospital, elder respite center, and center for adults with brain injuries and diff-abilities.  She hopes to continue this work in Boise. Anne has a daily meditation practice, and lives with her collection of two-leggeds and four-leggeds in downtown Boise. 
 
Cathy Cooke has been a community educator for various organizations for over 20 years. She’s a Board Certified Holistic Nutritionist with the National Association of Nutritional Professionals and a Building Biology Environmental Consultant and Electromagentic Radiation Specialist with the Building Biology Institute.
 
Elissa Maguire, AD, E-RYT-500, LMT, CAP, HHP, RM, is an internationally certified teacher of Hatha Yoga, Pranayama, T’ai Chi Chih,Japanese Acupressure and Reiki. She has over 43 years teaching in state, federal, and municipal government venues; as well as instructing recreational and private classes. In 2005, Elissa became a nationally certified and licensed massage therapist allowing her to combine Jin Shin Jyutsu (Acupressure) and Therapeutic Massage for a unique approach to healing. She combines eastern practices, with western science which she feels, has proven benefits. Her philosophy promotes good health, harmony and bliss in your everyday life.
